Mexican director Guillermo del Toro in his Twitter Account shared a link to the 2018 article. In the article dedicated to the ten-year anniversary of the release of the film "Hellboy 2: Golden Army", tried to analyze why the picture did not reach successful financial indicators. The author writes:
Guillermo del Toro Snoiechka took off the best film about superhero, but this film was ahead of his time. The modern era of superheroes began just after the 2008 films, except for Hellboy 2, "Iron Man" and "Dark Knight" came out. No one understood how good the film Del Toro, until it became too late. As a result, the franchise died.
The director himself says:
