What attracted you in the script "Knight of the Day"?
I liked that in the script there was not only a lot of drive and action, but also a love story between people from completely different worlds. Roy Miller, hero Tom Cruise, and my joon help each other to discover unexpected, interesting features. I think that at the moment they face at the airport, they immediately see each other exactly what they were looking for. They both turn out to be involved in a completely new, unusual world for themselves, and both frighteners. At first, when the Joon flirts with Roy, she thinks that the only danger that she exposes himself is a danger to pursue a stranger. But soon it turns out that everything is much more serious that it is a danger to life, and Jun does not know how far it can go and how much it can take.
Tell us more about your heroine. What is actually her relationship with ROOM?
At the beginning of the film, Jun seems a timid ordinary woman who has no idea what it is capable of. She never had adventures and never had a serious relationship. During the film, she turns into a strong, confident personality who understands that she knows how to drive, knows how to shoot and able to build a future with ROOM. It is especially impressed in it that she is all his life as if he was afraid to live on a full coil, and when she meets Roy, it is her unique chance to catch up. The swarm seeks her wild, free nature in it, about the existence of which she herself did not suspect. And Roy, on the contrary, originally wild and free nature, he lives today and takes everything from life ... except one: love. See you with Jun, in turn, and does not suspect this side of his personality. In this sense, they are ideally suited to each other - and they learn to trust each other in a situation in which it is very difficult to do it.
You have already worked with Tom Cruise on the set of "Vanilla Sky", what are your feelings from cooperation with him?
In a pair with Tom, everything is better for me better than without it. He has a huge talent - and more energy than in the drawer of energy drinks! The best partner for the film in the genre of action will not invent. I am delighted with how his ideas are built, and from his ability to move from the hijacking of the plane to the romantic scene so that in both of these episodes you believe on all one hundred. In addition, he has a stunning sense of humor - we are constantly laughing at the site before you fall. When you work on a film, which I have to call a laugh at the viewer, and at the same time laugh - this is, in my opinion, a very good sign. We perfectly spent time on the set, and in the film, I am sure it is felt - both in comedy, and in action, and in romantic scenes!
You immediately decided to independently perform all your tricks, including a dangerous and exciting scene on a motorcycle in Seville. Do not regret then?
I can say one thing: if on this motorcycle it was necessary to be with someone else, and not with Tom - I would not want this exactly for myself! But as a result, in my opinion, one of the best motorcycle scenes in the history of the cinema - sexual, rapid, funny and surely one of the most mad in the tempo of all that ever was filmed in Seville. A few weeks of my life were exclusively from bruises, but I got great pleasure. During the filming, I had to remove the Golden Globe award to the award ceremony - so I came there all in bruises and scratches! ..
Are you not tired of flights? After all, the film was shot in several different watch and climatic belts?
Yes - in Boston, New York, Alps, Austria, Spain and Caribbean Islands. I will say honestly - I work in a movie for 15 years, and I have never had to move through the light at such a speed for the sake of one picture. But this is a great idea - show so many different countries in one movie. It gives him a huge international scope - well, and, of course, adds the severity of sensations to actors!
