Both men died after the conspiracy of Tommy Shelby was exposed (Killian Murphy) for the murder of the leader of the fascist movement of Osvald Mosley; However, the director Anthony Byrne believes that their death was even regrettable, but still necessary for the development of the show. In an interview with Digital Spy, he noted that Knight was so lucky to all the characters that he absolutely did not want to kill any of them. Nevertheless, such a cruel solution was a weighty cause.
