The doctor who has long become a truly religious character thanks to his ability to change his body and face, while staying at the same time in the shower and keeping all the memories and abilities. And, given that for the first time, the series came out on the screens back in 1963, the decision to give the lord of time the possibility to regenerate was simply ingenious. Still, everyone understood that William Hartnell could not play this role forever.
