According to the site Entertainment Weekly, the Syfy Channel decided to close the "Wizards" series after the fifth season. The Channel statement says:
"Wizards" were part of us for five fantastic seasons. Approaching the end of their history, we want to thank John McNamaru, sulfo Gamble, Henry Alonso Myers, Lion Grossman and all our wonderful actors, screenwriters, directories, film crew for their excellent work. But first of all we thank the fans for their huge support. Thanks to you, magic will always live in our hearts.
The television series throughout the seasons received high ratings from critics. The closing of the series, according to the channel, is associated with increased production costs. Each series of the fifth season is twice as expensive and attracts twice as fewer spectators than the series of the most commercially successful second season.
The series describes the adventures of students of the School of Magic Breicbils, who learned about the existence of the Magic World of Philori. Fans note the excellent sense of humor of the creators, multiple references to other fantastic works and a high pace of stories. The main roles starred Jason Ralph, Stella Maiwe, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Hale Appleman and Arjun Gupta.
The last series of the fifth season will be shown on April 5.
