The plaintiff and the creator of the short film "Montok" Charlie Kessler stated that the directories of "very strange affairs" stole the idea of the series. According to him, he came up with the concept of which later shared with one of the Daffer brothers. In 2012, Kessler released a short film called "Montok". This is the name of the small town in the United States on the island of Long Island, near which hearing was held, secret military experiments conducted. The picture has a missing child, and a military base, and a monster from another dimension. Despite this, immediately after submitting documents to court, Daffera stated that it was only a "meaningless action for the purpose of profit."
Not in favor of the creators of the series also plays the fact that the working title of the show was the "Project of the Mount." It should be noted that when the project was announced in 2015, it was simply called "montok", and the plot was unfolded at Long Island, and not in Indiana.
The directors intended to not give this case, however, their arguments could not convince the Supreme Judge of Los Angeles, and now if you agree with the plaintiff, they will come to the first court session. Netflix supported the directories, but the lawyers of Kessler said: "If the lawsuit had no reason, and they had evidence of their wrongness, they would have celebrated victory."
