Not so long ago it was officially announced that Norman Ridus and Melissa McBride will lead another spin-off from the Universe of the Walking of the Dead, and now it became known that the idea of a separate series about Daril and Carol arose a couple more years ago, that is, before In the main series it was decided to put a point. Reidus himself told this, becoming the guest of Entertainment Weekly Live:
"Angela [Kang, Showranner] and I started talking about it during a series with snow, the director of whom Greg [Nicoteo]. I threw these ideas because I thought: "The series lasts for eight years, but where is it all moving?" And here I had this thought, I voiced it, and we began to actively discuss her. Angela and Scott [Gimple, producer and screenwriter], for their part, also reflected on something similar. Negotiations did not stop, and more than years they called me and said that we can do it. True, then we have not yet known that the flagship series will be over. The idea was that Daryl and Carol will leave the series, but sometimes they will come back. To be honest, I hoped that the maternal project would never end. I'm afraid to part with him.
The conversation referenced by Ridus took place at the end of 2018 during the filming of the Episode of the "Storm". As we can see, it was this conversation that launched a mechanism in motion, which should earn at full capacity in 2022, when the premiere of the new spin-off will take place.
