"Darkness" tells about the inhabitants of the small town of Winden, located near the nuclear power plant. From time to time, children disappear in the town. Revealing the secret of the next disappearance, which happened in 2019, the inhabitants find out that there is an exemption in time next to the station that transfers those who fell into it for 33 years. As a result, the series action unfolds simultaneously in different times. In addition to 2019/20, the actions occur in 1921, 1953, 1986 and 2053.
The creators of the series originally solved the problem of the "Butterfly Effect". Most films events in the past change the future. Marty McFlary crashes into pine, and in the present instead of the shopping center "Pine-twin" a shopping center "Lonely Pine" appears. In the "darkness" everything is wrong.
