After Yuen McGregor revealed in one of the interviews that he would voice Cricket in Pinocchio Guillermo del Toro, Netflix's stream service decided to stop overlooking and published a list of actors involved in the project. The main character will be voiced by the debutant Gregory Mann, the old Jeppetto will announce David Bradley. Also, Tilde Suinton, Christoph Waltz, Kate Blanchett, Ron Perlman and Finn Wolford will also take part in the soundtractions of characters. The director who has talked for many years about how dreams of removing this film, so characterizes the project:
Oddly enough, two stories that admire me are related. These are stories about Frankenstein and Pinocchio. They both tell about the created beings that have lost in the world that they do not understand. Both stories - travel the knowledge and evolution of the Spirit. When we started working on Pinocchio, we clearly knew that we would like to make it different in the sense that it was not just a fairy tale for us. We wanted to tell about the ideas that are relevant to all of humanity.
The action "Pinocchio" will occur in Italy of the 1930s, during the strengthening of fascism, when Benito Mussolini established control over the country.
