Being on quarantine, many film industry figures regularly communicate with fans through social networks to support others and demonstrate their own degradment of the spirit. A rather unusual format for such regular communication sessions with fans chose director David Lynch. On his channel in Youtube, he lays out short videos in which he tells about the weather. In 2005-2010, he also recorded such videos several times, but never explained why he did it.
The other day on this channel the director has published a short film "Fire". An animated black and white ribbon was created in 2015. David Lynch himself was the director and the screenwriter, the animator - Noriko Miyakawa, and the composer - Marek Zhrabrovsky. The director himself says that at one time they created this work as an experiment on the topic, whether joint creativity is possible without joint discussion. What is very relevant during quarantine:
The whole point of our experiment was that I did not talk about my intentions, and Majek could only judge them about the visual row. And the experiment was successful. I liked the composition written by Marek for the String Quartet Penderec.
Zharbrovsky talks about his work:
It turned out a very melancholic and poetic film. I tried to illustrate what David did. For example, there is something resembling hail, in this place I used a lot of pizzicato, but at the same time added a melodic line so that the lyrical line is in general.
The cinematic career Lynch began with the film "Head-Eraser" of 1977, which was also black and white and was accompanied by an unusual sound design.
