David Harbor believes that his failure to restart Hellboy 2019, in which the actor fulfilled the title role, owes the fanbase of Oscarpical director Guillermo del Toro. Despite the enthusiasm of the Harbor in relation to this project, Hellboy was defeated by critics for his meaningless plot and poor working out of characters. To top it all over the film turned out to be unprofitable, collecting $ 44 million around the world with a budget of $ 50 million. But what does Del Toro here?
The fact is that in 2004 and 2008 del Toro made the director of two films about Hellby, who were adopted by the public much more favorably. It was planned that the third picture will be released in the framework of the cycle, but the money for the project was not found. Instead, it was decided to remove the film-restart led by Harbor, which caused resentment from those who waited for the trilogy about Hellby from del Toro.
Communicating with his fans in Instagram, Harbor complained that many viewers behaved incorrectly, comparing the new "Helleboy" with his predecessors:
I think this film failed even before we started shooting. It seems to me that people did not want us to take for this project, because we felt some rejection. Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman created a cult thing, but it seemed to us that we could present our gaze on Helleboy. At the same time, people on the Internet loudly stated: "We do not want you to touch it!" But we still made our movie. As for me, he turned out to be funny, let us have certain problems. But people were hostile - however, this is their right. At the same time, for me, it was a useful experience.
Initially, it was planned that the restart of Helleboy will receive Sicvel, but the failure of the first part put the cross on this franchise. Nevertheless, Harbor did not stay not at work, playing the Red Guardian in the "Black Widow" from Marvel.
