After Disney absorbed the 20th Century Fox Studio, quite a lot of projects turned out to be in suspended. To question, even the future of such major franchises, as a "alien" and "planet of the monkeys", although they seem to survive this difficult period. But what about the "Independence Day 3"? In a conversation with Cinemablend, the director of this franchise Roland Emmerich shared that he did not lose hope to take up the creation of a tricvel, although the clarity in this matter is still not:
I dont know. At the moment, nothing concrete is impossible. Of course, talked about it with Fox bosses, but after the studio was redeemed, I told myself: "Well, probably, this is the end." But I do not know. Time will tell. The case can turn both in one and the other way. Hollywood is a very strange place in our days, and I have the feeling that Disney may also be interested in this project. They like movies belonging to different franchises.
Emmerich is quite restrained in its comments, soberly assessing the situation. Considering that the sequel released in 2016 "Independence Day: Revival" turned out to be much less successful than the original film with Will Smith, Disney can really put a cross on this franchise. If Emmerich still give a chance to take off the third part, he will be ready for this - according to him, he already has some ideas for the "Independence Day 3".
