"It was humiliating": Quentin Tarantino explained to the failure of them with Robert Rodriguez films

In 2007, directed by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez decided to experiment under the name "Greedhaus". Starting from the 60s of the last century, the US cinemas were forced to decide the question of how to survive in the context of television. Many went bankrupt, some decided to demonstrate low-budgetary paintings with a large number of violence and sex scenes. To attract viewers, the reception "two films at the price of one" was often used.

Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez decided to reproduce that experience and removed each film - "Proof of Death" and the "Fear Planet" - reproducing the stylistics of those most films that were shown in Greydhaus. For greater truthfulness, several trailers of the fictional films were also removed, which should have been released.

The project failed with a crash. Only the films shown separately were able to attract viewers. Responding to questions of fans, Quentin Tarantino told that it was a useful lesson. It is not necessary to think that the audience knows about the cinema as much as you and you will read all the meanings laid into the picture. He understood a lot during the premiere:

I am in London making a press release of the film. And I suggest Edgar Wright: "Hey, let's take your friends, and we will go to Piccadilly to watch the movie." We go to the cinema, and there are 13 people in the hall. On the day of the premiere at the session at 20:30. How do you like? It was humiliating. But we looked and spent a good time. True, Edgar was constantly rummaged to escape, but I made him to make it to the end.
